The best sounds often come from hands on experimentation and discovery. Want to record vocals through some of the world's best vocal chain? Come over, f*ck around and find out!

Get that hardware sound, fast

Send over MIDI, get audio back

What you send: MIDI files, tempo, and a description of what you think you need.

What you get: Stereo 44.1 audio versions delivered back to you until you're happy.

I've only done this  ̶h̶u̶n̶d̶r̶e̶d̶s̶  thousands of times. Maybe you want a bassline but have no idea which synth to use. There is no right answer, but I can send you some choices to pick from.

External Hardware processing

Maybe you need some dirt added to your sound? Some saturation. Some inaccuracies. Some punch and distortion that you can only get from lusty hardware pieces. Perhaps you need a track "louder". Or maybe you're not sure what you need, but you think hardware and someone else's ears could improve your work.

Book an in-studio session!

Are you a control freak and cannot bear to put your music in someone else's hands? Fair enough! (Me too!)

Book some time at your convenience, come over and play with some synthesizers and I'll hit record. Or bring me your tracks and I'll show you how to process them with the undeniable girth of a Culture Vulture, then show you how to dial in a sound with the Overstayer Modular Channel. Almost every track can benefit when being run through external processing, inserting some imperfections along the way. This is one reason I record everything through it.

Or maybe you just want to belt out your song into a tube Neumann U67, through a Neve 1073, 1176, and LA-2A and see if it's all really worth it?

Hint: ...it might not be for you!

But how much?

Not much. Often times its cheaper than renting from me.

Contact me for rates with a description of what you'd like to try!

Does hardware really matter?

If it inspires you to make something that you otherwise would not, then YES! Sometimes running things out of the computer and into circuitry makes them sound dirtier (because of added noise), different (turning knobs to get there), "bigger" because of transformers, A/D and D/A stages, etc. All of this adds up!

What else you got??

This vintage Hi Fi setup belonged to my late Father. In the 90's, he gifted it to me.

This vintage Pioneer Hi Fi setup belonged to my late Father. In the 90's, he gifted it to me and I used it to distort the hell out of vocals and guitar. Running sounds in and out of the tape rolls off the lows and highs and compresses it like nothing else can. This is a perfect case of Using Gear the Wrong Way ™

This Ursa Major Space Station SST-206 is an exact replica of the original unit from the 70's, as done by its creator Christopher Moore. Dialing in effects on sounds is a inspiring process, because there are no presets.

Watch me do that here and then lower the fidelity to 32kHz here.

The Eventide H3000 somehow eluded me for too long. When I finally found one locally, I got it and fell immediately in love. Not only for the typical BAND DELAYS that we've all heard on records, but the REVERBS are some of the best I've ever heard. It somehow sounds musical and Hi-Fidelity Lo-Fi at the same time. I upgraded it to have all the presets of the H3500, so there are hundreds to check out
